Wyoming '99: Monday

Coming down the road toward the old shacks. There's no indoor plumbing there, Dixie told us. There was an outhouse, though, for fellows who come down here to herd the cattle. When the kids had a look inside, they decided they didn't have to go so bad.

If you study it for a moment, you'll see this side building is built from old railroad ties.

The house down here is no longer used, Dixie told us. She said the mice have pretty much taken it over. Chris found a whole mess of tiny mouse skeletons, and he brought home a skull smaller than his thumb, complete with moving jaw.

Not only did we have a great view of the Big Fill from here . . .

. . . but also, just at the right moment, a train came lumbering across, putting a perfect end to a pretty perfect day's tour of the area. (Click on the picture to see it larger.)
