Notes

Note from M.S. Bradley, September 7, 2002 (on a cross-country trip): “Yesterday, I found Gabriel Bradley's grave in a cemetery in Mound City, Holt County, MO.  According to a book on cemeteries in Holt County, he had 19 children and 3 wives.  The only problem is that on his grave stone the name Bradley is without an "e", but I know this is the "guy".  Oregon, MO is the county seat for Holt County.  They had no probate info.  The only other thing I found was at the Libe in Columbia.  It was a special census taken in 1876, 2 years before Gabriel died.  Gabriel with wife and kids was living there in Mound City then.  Actually the census gave a range number and a township number for his location, which places him in Mound City.  All of that stuff is in the car.  I'm almost positive the census spelled his name with an "e", as well as all of the other census reports that I have seen for the various years.  Of course, some one else would have ordered the grave stone, thus the spelling of the name.  Also, the death records for Holt County do not go back as far as his death, so all I have is info from World Family Tree and the Holt County Book on cemeteries.”

Much of this information is uncorroborated.
