Wyoming '99: Thursday
In the old frontier town outside the prison, we found a photographer who was willing to squeeze off a few snapshots of this Southern belle and Confederate soldier. (Click on the picture for a color version.)
The photographer was a guy from Arkansas, and he sold these amazing old-style hats on the side. He was working with genuine old camera equipment, though the film was modern (so was the tripod). He had a bellows-style focus, which he had to fine-tune on an inverted image.
After he got the kids in focus, he asked them to strike a traditional frontier pose.
